I read this post on my friend Hotel Manager's blog and thought it might be fun (and mostly embarrassing). I also listed play counts, which should only add to the embarrassment.

4. Coming Undone by Korn, 101 plays
5. Something To Be by Rob Thomas, 94 plays
6. Bossy by Kelis, 93 plays
7. Work It Out by Jurassic 5 and Dave Matthews Band, 91 plays
8. Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits, 88 plays

16. Baby, Now That I Found You by Alison Krauss, 62 plays
17. You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC, 57 plays
18. God Only Knows by The Beach Boys, 55 plays
19. Ain't Nothing Wrong With That by Robert Randolph and the Family Band, 52 plays

24. Loving You by Paolo Nutini, 43 plays
25. Ah! Leah! by Donnie Iris, 42 plays
*This is a four-second sound byte from the movie "Napoleon Dynamite." I like to mute my speakers and set it to play when I leave the office for the weekend (when I leave the office for the weekend) just for fun (when I remember to have fun) (I also realize that if this is my definition of "fun" then I need to get out more) and to artificially raise my play count. Ty has informed me this is not right. There is a part of me that does it because I know he doesn't like it.
If anyone is still reading this blog, I think you should do it, too and post a link to your blog in the comments.
I totally read your blog, I just wish you updated more often! You're so funny!

I blame the shuffle function for not playing Never There every other time I listen to Flossie.

I have no ipod.
I have no itunes.
The only songs I recognize out of yours or GAF's are the Harry Potter songs, and I recognized them all before the actual reference to Harry Potter.
I know what LUMOS means.
I'm feeling a little depressed over this, but I'll cheer right up once I find my "Anne Murray's Greatest Hits" cassette tape, pop it in my van's deck, and sing to "Danny's Song" all the way to the grocery store. Yeah baby!

Is there any way to figure out the most plays using WMP?
Posted by: Tusk | 13 April 2007 at 01:48 PM
I have no idea, Tusk. Sorry!

I wasn't going to play because my songs make me realize my true goober status. Also, my play counts are low even though I have had my Ipod and therefore Itunes for about 18 months. I mostly use my Ipod and not Itunes so I imagine my Ipod list would vary signficantly. Also, I will admit I am slightly neurotic about Christmas music, and played it basically non stop last year starting mid October. So I cannot say I am surprised at how many of those tunes showed up in the top 25.
1. Girls Like Me: Mary Chapin Carpenter: 33
2. My Heaven: Mary Chapin Carpenter: 29
3. Crying:Roy Orbison and K.D. Lang: 29

6. Gold Digger: Kanye West: 26
7. Kiss That Girl: Sheryl Crow: 25
8. 32 Flavors: Ani DiFranco: 22
9. When You Say Nothing At All: Allison Kraus & Union Station:19
10. Short Skirt/Long Jacket: Cake: 19
11. I Don't Wanna Talk About It--Indigo Girls:19
12. Joy to the World: Jewel:19

I can't count my most played songs because I don't have a nifty ipod thingy but I did do a top ten list on my blog a while back!
Posted by: Meghan | 06 May 2007 at 07:07 AM
I've now posted my top 25. Hey, Jerilyn, it's been a while, eh? I was happy (if a little stressed) to see that you've still been working on artificially raising your play counts. I've got a great file for you if you want it, you can seriously make for a high play count with it.
Posted by: Ty | 31 May 2007 at 09:42 PM
and have I confessed that I've crossed over and artificially inflated my play counts? Not quite as much as to achieve a play count like yours, but I've fast forwarded to the ends of some songs to register them as played even if I've only listened to half the song! I'm a hypocrite.
